Fans shared video and photos of the custom-built set in the Glasgow suburb of Dumbarton being torn down.

A second added ‘OMG I am absolutely devastated I have so loved watching this. Shame on BBC!!! X’
And another penned: “Absolutely gutted, best soap on T.!!!!!!!!”
Even River City star, Stephen Purdon, who played Shellsuit Bob reacted to the demolition on Instagram with the caption: “A home from home for 24 years.”
Some locals shared the aftermath of the demolition efforts with one man showing a pile of wood in his backyard which he claimed was from the set and off for recycling.
In May, The Scottish Sun revealed the Shieldinch site was snapped up by a property firm for £2.1million.
Campaigners said they were “devastated” by the loss of the Dumbarton complex, where sitcoms Still Game and Two Doors Down were also recorded.
BBC Scotland had been leasing the studios for £150,000 per year but the deal was due to end in September.
Glasgow-based Turnberry Homes bought the four-hectare lot — despite a bid to save it as a film and telly set being backed by stars such as Outlander’s Sam Heughan, 46, Brian Cox, 79, from Succession and Spooks actress Shauna Macdonald, 45.
But even though they raised £5million in funds, the rescue effort was rejected by owners Westerwood Properties.
River City’s cast and crew were in tears as Scotland’s last soap called its final cut back in April.
The final episode will include a dramatic showdown between Lenny Murdoch and his nemesis Harry Foulkes, while we’ll also bid a fond farewell to the residents of Shieldinch for the last time.
