THE FINAL boxing robe worn by the late Ricky Hatton is being put up for auction.

Hatton – who fought 48 times professionally at either light welterweight or welterweight between 1997 and 2012 – died last September at the age of 46.

The popular Mancunian returned to the ring, aged 44, in November 2022 for an exhibition bout when he took on Mexican Marco Antonio Barrera at the Arena.

The clothes he wore that night, more than three years ago, are likely to fetch between Β£5,000-Β£8,000 when they go under the hammer next week.

The white-and-blue robe – which has been autographed by the pugilist hero – has a sequined hood and cuffs and carries a poppy emblem and the crest, the club he famously supported.

Following the fight, Hatton donated the robe to raise funds for Tony Cesay, the four-time London ABA and national ABA champion, who has Motor neurone disease (MND).

It was sold at a auction to an anonymous buyer – money went to Cesay and his family – and now it is being resold again.

It is part of a huge lot of 765 historic sporting items that go on sale through BUDDS online auction on March 17-18.

Other items include a limited-edition Olympic Gold Edition Opus (Β£20-Β£30,000), Ian Botham’s Test stump from The Oval in 1981 (Β£1-Β£1,500) and a New York Cosmos shirt (Β£3-Β£5,000).

David Convery, head of sporting memorabilia of BUDDS, said: β€œSports memorabilia is not just a passion, it’s an investment in sporting history.

β€œThe items we sell are from moments that made headlines and caused stadiums to erupt.

β€œNow preserved, authenticated and ready to own.”
