Manchester United legend, Edwin Van der Sar, has hailed Nicolás Tagliafico and Lisandro Martinez for their ‘amazing achievement’ of winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup on Sunday.
Martinez was an unused substitute as Argentina defeated France 4-2 on penalties following a 3-3 draw after extra time.
Tagliafico, meanwhile, started the World Cup final tie against France as Lionel Messi scored a brace, while Angel Di Maria scored a goal.
Messi’s Paris Saint-Germain teammate Kylian Mbappe netted a hat-trick in the final.
In a post via his Instagram account, Van der Sar wrote: “Congratulations to our former @AFCAjax players Licha & Nico for winning the #FIFAWorldCup! Amazing achievement after what was a superb match! Enjoy the celebrations with your teammates, loved ones and fans. You deserve it!”
