Instead, she has opted for Barkleys mints, which come in charming little tins that usually retail for over £3 each.
In the video , which has garnered over 407,000 views to date, Lydia shared that her inspiration came from her “chic” grandmother, who always kept a tin of Fisherman’s Friends in her pocket.
“For me, chewing gum has always felt like I was talking with my mouth full,” she remarked.
Although she is happy with her choice to switch to mints, she noted that she has accumulated many tins.
Therefore, she decided to purchase a sterling silver “19th-century pill box” from eBay to refill with the mints instead.
The box features a “stunning heraldic design crest” on its front and a tartan pattern etched into the silver.
Lydia demonstrated how she now uses the wrappers from the Barkleys tins to line the pill box before filling it with mints.
“It feels so exquisite when you’re offering someone a mint,” she expressed.
“It feels extra special to present one in something as beautiful as this!”
Lydia mentioned that investing in the box transforms something that is “usually thoughtless and unconsidered” into “something that feels more indulgent, more intentional,” which “elevates life just a bit more.”
However, the comments section quickly filled with people mocking Lydia, with one commenter stating: “It’s a mint. Is she serious?”
“Gosh, if only I had that much time on my hands,” another lamented.
“I just buy Smint for 99p,” a third commenter added.
“Just continue using the original tin. No need to buy a tin to put another tin in the bin!” someone else remarked.
“Why am I watching content about mint tins?” another questioned.
Others noted that Lydia’s video reminded them of influencer Nara Smith or Meghan Markle.

“It makes perfect sense,” they added.
“Little pleasures in life are what make it great!”
“So beautiful! I have a tiny tin like this for my pills, but I never thought about giving it a new purpose!” another shared.
“Mine is from a lady who lived in Paris, and it is golden on one side and emerald green on the other. Such a treasure.”
“It’s a fantastic idea! It makes it feel more luxurious,” a third commented.
