The Ogun State House of Assembly passed the 2026 Appropriation Bill amounting to N1,668,997,993,125.44 on Monday, just 26 days after it was presented by Governor Dapo Abiodun.
The approval followed the report delivered by the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, led by Chairman Musefiu Lamidi, who then moved for its adoption.
The motion received a second from Folawewo Salami and was supported unanimously by all members during a voice vote in a plenary session chaired by Speaker Oludaisi Elemide at the Assembly Complex in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Subsequently, the bill was read and adopted clause by clause in the Committee of the Whole House. The Majority Leader, Yusuf Sheriff, moved for its third reading, which was seconded by the Minority Leader, Lukman Adeleye, and received unanimous support from all lawmakers via a voice vote.
The Clerk and Head of the Legislative Service, Mr. Sakiru Adebakin, then conducted the third reading of the bill before the State lawmakers. Following this, the Speaker instructed that a clean copy of the bill be sent to the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for his approval.
Earlier, while presenting the report from the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation on the bill titled “H.B. No. 028/OG/2025 – Year 2026 Appropriation Bill,” Lamidi noted that the Assembly had amended the budget proposals from three MDAs, resulting in a slight increase in the Internally Generated Revenue by N2.193 billion.
This amount was deducted from the capital receipt, thus maintaining the total actual budget expenditure of N1.668 trillion originally proposed to the Assembly by the governor.
In a related matter, the House also approved the 2025 Revised Appropriation Bill and the Revised Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) for the years 2026 to 2028.
