The American woman, who has a six-year-old daughter and four-week-old newborn, shared in a video online that she just thought she just had a skin tag.
But the mum was left “gagged” when she learnt the truth.
Jasmine said it took her 48 hours to process that she had another nipple on her body.
She said: “I my first baby for one and a half years so you know I was thinking there is nothing this nurse can say that’s going to surprise me.
“It’s been a while so I could use a refresher for sure, learn all the latest tips and tricks, but I thought I had heard it all.”
She added: “So she starts talking about extra breast tissue because you know boobs they’re complicated, they’re all different, and I tell her that I’m pretty sure that I have excess in my armpits because I have a lot of fat there and it just doesn’t go away.”
She said that throughout both her pregnancies, her nipples would turn a darker colour, and she began noticing the same thing with her armpits.
Jasmine said: “I show her…guys, tell me why she looks at it and she goes ‘oh yeah, and that’s a nipple’.
“I’m gagged. She’s like ‘you have a third nipple on your armpit’.”
She added: “You know how cows and puppies and kittens have that line of nipples, humans have that too.”
A woman who squashes people’s baby fever online shared her thoughtsCredit: tiktok.com/@z00mie
She called upon Zoomie – a viral boasting 1.4million followers, who is known as ‘the girl with the list’.
Zoomie reacts to people’s videos online regarding pregnancy and parenting and shares reasons why not to have children, or “cure your baby fever”.
Reacting to Jasmine’s video, she said : “So, she grew a new nipple.
“I did a little more research on this, it’s called a supernumerary nipple – extra squirting nipples for everyone.
“Except for me of course because I’m taking my .”
“I beg your finest pardon,” one wrote in the comments of the video.
“Omg I’m not having kids,” added another.
“There goes my baby fever,” said another.
“I’m sorry we have a MILK LINE,” wrote another shocked woman.
One other commented: “Supernumeracy nipples have to be the most horrific thing I have ever learned. Why that line though?”
Another said: “Women’s bodies are so magical. I don’t want to experience that magic but I’m always in awe.”
A medical student commented and said: “This is definitely a thing, although most people are born with supernumeracy nipples.
“They don’t develop during pregnancy and males can have them too.
“I assume lactating women can develop milk production from the already existing nipples though.”
What are supernumerary nipples?
The states : “Supernumerary nipples or breast tissue are a minor congenital malformation of mammary tissue resulting in extra nipple(s) and/or associated breast tissue.
“They are common and are found in up to 6% of the population.
“Depending on what type of breast tissue is present and the site, they may also be known as accessory breast tissue, axillary breast tissue, polymastia, polythelia, accessory nipple, third nipple, ectopic nipple, or extra nipple.”
They may be solitary or multiple. Most develop along the two lines from the armpit to groin, but they can occur in areas such as the skin of the neck, back, vulva or thigh.
They can often be mistaken for moles, birth marks and skin tags.
They can affect both females and males
Why are they more common in pregnancy?
Dr Debora Wilson reporting for Healthline states : “During the fourth week of pregnancy , the embryo’s two milk lines, which are made of ridged ectoderm tissue (a type of tissue that eventually becomes part of your skin), thicken.
“Normally, the milk line tissue stays thick and forms your nipples while the rest of the thickened skin softens up again.
“But in some cases, parts of the milk line ridges don’t become regular ectoderm tissue again.
“When this happens, supernumerary nipples can appear where the milk tissue stayed thick and ridged after birth and development into adulthood.”
When should I see a doctor about a third nipple?
In most cases, it is nothing to worry about if you find an extra nipple.
It is advisable to see a doctor if your extra nipple begins to lactate or radiate pain.
Most people do not need treatment. If you want them removed, the nipples can be removed by surgery.
How long should you wait before having sex after birth?
AFTER giving birth, it's generally recommended to wait six weeks before resuming sexual activity.
This time frame allows your body to heal and recover, particularly after vaginal or cesarean deliveries. Here’s why:
Physical Healing: The body undergoes many changes during childbirth, including tears or incisions that need time to heal, as well as the uterus shrinking back to its normal size. The six-week period allows for proper healing of any stitches or incisions and reduces the risk of infections.
Lochia (Postpartum Bleeding): After birth, you’ll experience lochia, a discharge that can last up to six weeks. Resuming sex before this has stopped can increase the risk of infection.
Hormonal Changes: Hormones fluctuate significantly post-birth, and you may experience vaginal dryness or discomfort due to lower estrogen levels. Waiting gives your body time to regain balance.
Emotional Readiness: It’s also important to be emotionally ready. The postpartum period can be overwhelming with physical recovery, caring for your newborn, and adjusting to new life dynamics. Take your time to reconnect with your partner emotionally and physically.
Despite this, according to the NHS , “there are no rules about when to start having sex again after you have given birth.”
The NHS explained: “You’ll probably feel sore as well as tired after your baby is born, so don’t rush into it.”
