A MURDER probe into the death of a tot put in the care of special guardians by social services is ongoing two years later.
Cody Davies-Owen died in 2023 aged 21 months after being discovered in suspected .
He is said to have suffered horrific injuries.
A man, 37, and woman, 36, were arrested on in and bailed.
But no one has been charged and an inquest is yet to open.
Cody’s dad Phillip told The Sun: “Cody dying has destroyed me.
“He’s the first thing I think about when I wake up in the morning and the last thing I think about before I go to sleep at night.
“I just want justice for my little boy, but the investigation is going nowhere. It feels like it’s on pause.”
The boy’s mum Rebecca added: “We can’t grieve properly until we get answers and some closure.
“But the way I see it, it feels like Cody has been forgotten about.”
A source said: “It’s been over two years of secrecy now and nobody seems to have the answers.”
Derbyshire said: “While two years have now passed, investigations such as this do take some time due to the complexity and nature of the offences being investigated, however this investigation is continuing to progress.
“These kind of cases also rely on medical reports and expert evidence which can be a lengthy process to arrange and it is important that a proportionate and thorough investigation takes place.
“We understand that this time delay can add to the distress felt by family members but are committed to ensuring that any updates we do have are shared with the family as the investigation continues.”
