A MOTHER was appalled to discover a “slug” in a carton of milk that her young sons had been drinking from for three days.

Beth Rees was preparing Weetabix for her children when she poured the milk into a pan and a repulsive, slug-like creature slipped out.

The 24-year-old mother of two described the shocking discovery as “terrible and disgusting.” She said, “I couldn’t eat for the rest of the day.”

“It made me feel nauseous, so I discarded the pan. I washed it twice but couldn’t bear to use it again.”

The milk was part of a Tesco grocery order that Beth had delivered to her home on Friday, October 17.

She opened the carton the following Sunday and used the milk normally, feeding her three-year-old and eight-month-old sons.

On Wednesday, October 22, Beth poured the last of the milk into a pan to prepare breakfast for her children.

In a moment of horror, a “fat” slug-like blob emerged, the “creature” was bloated from sitting in the milk and covered in thick slime.

Beth told DevonLive : “I believe it was a slug, but its color changed so much from being in the milk that it appeared fat and bloated.”

She and her partner were outraged to find the “creature” in their milk and attempted to contact Tesco, but reported that it was challenging to reach them.

The mother expressed, “I was upset because I’m not picky, but both my children have been drinking from that carton since Sunday, and I feel really guilty.”

She mentioned that she sent messages to Tesco with a photo as evidence, but “they didn’t seem very concerned.”

“They told me to bring it into Tesco, but several people I spoke to said they did that and their items were discarded.”

Even after making a phone call, Beth claimed that the store was still not very helpful.

The supermarket giant informed her that they would conduct an internal investigation, but could not provide any updates, Beth added.

Tesco offered her a coupon as an apology, but Beth was mainly worried about other “creatures” potentially slipping through the cracks.

“They provided us with a £25 goodwill gesture coupon, but they wouldn’t tell me what the next steps would be. I expected them to request a recall of the item.”

“Nothing was done about it. I wouldn’t want anyone else to find that,” she continued.

A Tesco spokesperson told The Sun: “We’re sorry to hear about this incident. We collaborate closely with our suppliers to ensure that robust quality procedures are in place, and milk is thoroughly checked throughout the production process, including multiple filtration stages.”

“In situations like this, we always request that the customer returns the product to the store for a full refund so our team can conduct a thorough investigation of the complaint.”
