THIS is the moment a bungling migrant drops a stick of fake dynamite outside the MI5 headquarters in protest at a failed asylum bid.

Julian Valente Pereira sparked a terror alert when he was captured putting the mock device outside the front door of the London building.

The 33-year-old was staging a protest at Thames House in Millbank on January 1 – a day after his final appeal for asylum was dismissed.

Pereira was seen stuffing paperwork about his case through the doors of the building.

The bungling Brazilian national then threw the “dynamite” down but had to rush to grab it after it rolled away.

Pereira eventually props it up against the door with a green lighter after doubling back on himself.

The incident caused large-scale disruption with roads closed around the building – but the “dynamite” was later found to be rolled-up A4 paper, brown masking tape, and string.

Pereira has now been jailed for two-and-a-half years after he was convicted of carrying out a bomb hoax by placing an article with intent.

Judge Mark Lucraft KC said the defendant “may well” be deported from the UK.

The Old Bailey heard Pereira admitted he wanted “maximum attention” on his complaints against the .

He had been at the centre of a long-running failed bid for asylum but was facing removal from the UK when he carried out the hoax.

Pereira came to the UK with permission to work in July 2018 but has remained in the country illegally since February 2019.

He was arrested in his room at an asylum hotel in Uxbridge, North West London, and told officers about his “long and tireless battle with the Home Office to try to attain asylum”.

Pereira said he left the fake bomb at the front of because he wanted to “catch the attention” of the security services.

The 30-page document he shoved through the door detailed methods of “psychological torture”.

He also told the court visited to throw a bag containing a copy of the immigration ruling and a knife stabbed through his ID inside the perimeter gates.
