Carol, 42, climbed into the hot tub at their home in Holywell Place, after returning from a nightclub with her husband on November 2, 2024.
The delivery driver then pushed his wife and held her under the water, causing her to drown.
The sounds of Carol splashing and struggling were heard on a neighbour’s CCTV camera, Pavlos Panayi KC, prosecuting, told Aylesbury Crown Court.
After 40 minutes, Georgiou called an ambulance and travelled with his wife to the hospital. He insisted that he had been asleep and had woken to find Carol unresponsive.
For months afterwards, Georgiou maintained the lie and even made jokes to his wife’s siblings, Carol’s sister Rebekah Eldridge told the court.
The couple had been married for 19 years and had two adult sons together.
In the months leading up to the murder, Georgiou placed cameras in the house and put a tracker on his wife’s car to monitor her movements, Thames Valley Police said.
Mr Panayi said the night she died, Carol had become determined to go through with a and told her husband “we’re done”.
Unable to accept the end of his and aware that Carol was involved with another man, Georgiou “reacted with rage”.
Judge Jonathan Cooper said there was evidence of a struggle and that Carol was “intoxicated and naked” when she died.
He described the murder as “brutal” and handed Georgiou a mandatory life sentence. He must spend 16-and-a-half-years behind bars before he can be considered for parole.
Judge Cooper added that Georgiou’s actions after Carol died were a “calculated attempt to mislead everyone”.
Jenni Dempster KC, defence, read extracts from a letter Georgiou had written in which he expressed shame and regret.
He wrote: “No day passes without Carol being in my mind, and I miss her terribly.”
Carol’s siblings told the court how her death had impacted them and how Georgiou was a man they had trusted.
Rebekah said: “None of us could ever have imagined what he was capable of.”
Judge Cooper praised the family for their dignity over the course of the hearing.
The six sisters were all wearing flamingo scarves outside the court in honour of Carol who was known as “the flamingo”.
Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Michael Roddy, of the Thames Valley Police Major Unit, said: “For months Andrew lied to both his and Carol’s family, including their two sons.
“In truth, Andrew Georgiou deliberately killed Carol because he was enraged at their impending divorce.”
