Former Venezuela international, Alejandro Moreno has hailed the transfer of Ademola Lookman to LaLiga giants, Atletico Madrid.

Lookman was one of the important signings made by Atletico in the winter transfer window.

Lookman’s move to the Riyadh Air Metropolitano is a big win for the Rojiblancos, who acted quickly and confidently to get the forward before Fenerbahçe could.

A well-known person in African football and a previous winner of the African Footballer of the Year award, Lookman finally resolved a long-lasting transfer situation with Atalanta.

Moreno thinks Lookman brings a new attacking style that has been missing from Diego Simeone’s team.

He believes Lookman is a lively player who can disrupt defenses with his speed, direct play, and skill at dribbling past defenders, all of which he has in plenty.

Moreno said on ESPN FC “They can discuss Rodrigo Mendoza and Obed Vargas if they want, the main focus of the winter transfer is Ademola Lookman.

“He is important and will remain important for this team because he changes how the group performs offensively.

“Sometimes you think about what Atletico Madrid has turned into, and it’s like Julian Alvarez is running all over the place, but then there’s Alexander Sorloth, who isn’t someone you can outrun with speed.”

Moreno added that it changes how they play offensively because now there are chances to attack back that were only possible before through Giuliano Simeone.

“Now in combined play, if you break through the first line of pressure, like with Betis, you get Lookman, who can run in behind and create a counterattack chance.

“That kind of opportunity wasn’t really part of Atletico Madrid’s offensive style, so it makes a big difference for them. Ademola Lookman is a player who can run very fast and has good speed, but he sometimes doesn’t perform consistently.

“That’s good news for Atletico Madrid, and it gives Simeone another choice when it comes to attacking options. It’s a positive move, but not a huge one,” he said.

If Lookman makes his debut in La Liga on Sunday, he will become the first English-born player to have played in the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, and Serie A.
