Bringing Enzo Maresca in as manager is a clever appointment by Manchester City.
I think the big point about is he knows the philosophy of the club, he knows the ins and outs, and knows what it means to the supporters. That’s important.

But he still needs to prove that he can be the right man for the job. And Pep Guardiola’s boots are tough boots to follow, I can assure you of that.
Pep was there for 10 years and built a dynasty. It’s incredible what we actually went on to achieve in that short amount of time that clubs take years and years to do.
But it shouldn’t be forgotten that Enzo was the coach in the treble-winning team with us and was a top guy to be around.
He was a great bridge between the players and the manager, after left for , first with the development squad and later with the first team.
Will he be in the first year? Definitely not. But in years to come, if he stays there, hopefully he can go and achieve what Pep did.
His approach is definitely going to have to be different from being an assistant.
He was someone we could lean on as the man who was that bridge to the manager.
You could go to him if you weren’t playing or if you were playing and wanted a bit more information from him, he would definitely give you that.
He’d always have time for you and commanded so much respect from the players.
Obviously, it’s a new group now and a lot of the players that he had back then in the treble winning team have gone and moved on.
But being an ex-player, he gets it and he will have learned a tremendous amount from Pep in his couple of years at the club and he went on leaps and bounds after that.
He did well at Leicester, winning the Championship and then I don’t really know what went on at the end at after he had won the Conference League and the .
Did he leave? Did he get sacked? Either way, it maybe didn’t end as he wanted it to end.
Now he’s got another chance at City and time will tell whether he is the right man.
But he’s got a good group of lads and it’s about both parties finding the balance between each other and taking the club on to bigger and better things.
