A FAMILY has revealed the amusing reason they ended up stranded on the side of the motorway in a funny video.

The clip shared online by TikTok user Danny Aarons featured British mum Tennessee laughing, and it quickly amassed an impressive 8.1 million views along with over 1,000 comments.

Danny captured his partner in tears, captioning the video: “A wasp was in the car, made me pull over on the hard shoulder, for goodness' sake.”

His wife was seen on the roadside looking distressed.

Frightened to return to the car, she exclaimed: “Where are they coming from? Please check!”

Their child, Suede, could be heard in the backseat mimicking Tennessee's cries.

This did not go unnoticed by viewers, with one comment noting: “The baby is copying her,” followed by a laughing emoji.

“It’s her and the baby crying the same for me,” another follower remarked.

However, some labeled her behavior as “wild.”

“Lmao isn’t she like 24?” one critic commented, adding: “Danny is younger than her, but she still acts more like a baby than the actual baby in the back.”

Another joked: “Good thing she didn’t overreact then…”

Meanwhile, some insisted it wasn’t safe to stop on the hard shoulder, cautioning: “The hard shoulder is for emergencies only.”

“It’s just a wasp. Stopping on the hard shoulder is not a good idea,” another commented.

“Imagine if someone wasn’t paying attention,” another added.

However, many TikTok users came to her defense, with one stating: “Oh dear, everyone is criticizing her in the comments for not being an adult.

“Let’s all just sit in a car with a wasp that could potentially sting us. I’d be crying too… a valid reaction.”

Another said: “At least I know I’m not the only one who is scared of wasps.”

Many agreed, saying they would “freak out” if they experienced the same situation.

What Happens to Wasps During Winter?

As the nights grow longer, most wasps die off due to the lack of food. Only the queen survives from a colony, hibernating in sheltered areas until spring.

The wasp life cycle resumes in spring and summer.

Unlike bees, wasps do not store food or hibernate during winter; instead, they enter a dormant state called diapause.

Soft, undisturbed materials combined with warmth create ideal nesting conditions for wasps, experts say, so patio cushion boxes and garden benches are often the worst culprits.

Cars can be warm, and food tends to get trapped under seats—making them perfect for attracting stray wasps during autumn and winter.

One driver confessed that he leaves his vehicle when wasps fly in, sharing in the comments: “I’m a 35-year-old forklift driver who abandons the forklift every time a wasp enters. I will return to work when it is safe to do so. Sorry, I’m not getting stung for £13.50 per hour.”

“This is so relatable because my sister got one stuck in her hair, and she was freaking out and got stung, which resulted in a trip to the hospital,” one woman shared.

“Wasps are no joke; a sting to the neck or head can be lethal, and you could die very quickly.”

Reports from summer 2025 indicated that “monster” nests were removed from homes.

Experts suggest that the winged insects are attracted to soft materials, which make ideal nesting sites.
