Upcoming film “Omniscient Reader”;; is gearing up for its epic journey!
Based on the popular web novel of the same name, “Omniscient Reader”;; will tell the story of Kim Dok Ja (Ahn Hyo Seop), who suddenly finds himself living in the world of a fantasy novel he was reading. Armed with the knowledge of what happened in the novel, Kim Dok Ja sets out to save the world from ending. Lee Min Ho stars as Yoo Joong Hyuk, the protagonist from the novel that Kim Dok Ja read.
The newly released character posters capture the actors’ perfect transformations into their characters. In the first poster, Kim Dok Ja, the sole reader for a web novel that was serialized for over 10 years, captivates with his intense gaze. The copy on his poster reads, “I’m the only reader who knows how this world ends,”;; sparking curiosity for how he will use his knowledge.
Yoo Joong Hyuk (Lee Min Ho), who is the main character of the novel Kim Dok Ja read, wonders in his poster, “Why did the world become like this?”;;
Yoo Sang Ah (Chae Soo Bin), who is with Kim Dok Ja the moment when the novel becomes reality, questions, “Do you have to fight like this everyday here?”;; on her poster.
Shin Seung Ho plays Kim Dok Ja’s peer Lee Hyun Sung. The copy on his poster reads, “Dok Ja, how do you know all this?”;; previewing how he will become a reliable shield-like support for Dok Ja and his companions.
Jung Hee Won (Nana), Kim Dok Ja’s companion who fights for justice, also looks imposing in her poster. The copy on her poster reads, “There is still one left—one who gave up on being human,”;; raising anticipation about who she could be talking about.
Lee Ji Hye (BLACKPINK’s Jisoo) is a high school student who follows Yoo Joong Hyuk as his mentee. She believes, “In this world, only the strong survive.”;;
Lee Gil Young (Kwon Eun Seong), a young boy who joins Dok Ja in his journey while communicating with insects, reveals his resolve, “I also want to fight with the monsters.”;;
In the teaser released alongside the posters, Kim Dok Ja introduces himself as the sole avid reader of “How to Survive in a Ruined World”;; as his own world suddenly starts to collapse. As a mysterious goblin appears on the subway, Kim Dok Ja thinks, “This is the same as the start of that novel.”;;
With the world falling into chaos, the goblin begins to hand out missions in the form of “scenarios”;;—the first scenario being to kill at least one living life form. Chaos erupts as Kim Dok Ja explains, “We have to clear up to the 99th scenario.”;;
In order to persuade Yoo Joong Hyuk to team up with him, Kim Dok Ja lies, “My skill is to foresee the future.”;; Skeptical, Yoo Joong Hyuk drops him in the ocean, giving Kim Dok Ja the mission of surviving and meeting him at Chungmuro station. Kim Dok Ja falls down, screaming, “Yoo Joong Hyuk, you bastard.”;;
The teaser ends as an intense battle for survival unfolds with Kim Dok Ja narrating, “The novel that only I knew and liked has become reality.”;;
