Kogi State Commissioner for Water resources Engr Farouk Yahaya says recent vandalism of equipment has stalled the supply water to Lokoja metropolis and its environs.

Yahaya stated this while fielding questions from journalists in Lokoja.

DAILY POST recalls that this is not the first time equipment of the water board has been vandalized in the State.

Similar incidents had happened in the West and Eastern part of the State where vandals carted away equipment worth millions of naira, thereby making residents to suffer.

Speaking on this recent development, Yahaya noted that efforts were in place to restore water supply in the State capital.

He decried the persistent attacks on water supply equipment in the State, warning that anyone caught will face the full wrath of the law.

“It is unfortunate that some of our water supply equipment came under attack recently. This is the reason there is failure of water supply in Lokoja metropolis.

“It has been fixed by our team of engineers. Water will be restored fully within the next two days,”; he assured.

He added that investigation was ongoing to unravel those behind the crime.
