Tinubu showed religious tolerance traveling to Rome, meeting Pope Leo – Archbishop Kaigama

The Archbishop of Abuja Catholic Diocese, Ignatius Kaigama, has commended President Bola Tinubu over his visit to Rome and meeting Pope Leo XIV.

Kaigama said Tinubu’s visit to Rome showed a concrete interreligious dialogue.

The Catholic bishop was part of Tinubu’s entourage to The Vatican City in Rome.

Pope Leo XIV had invited Tinubu to his official installation last week Sunday.

A few weeks ago, the college of Cardinals had elected Pope Leo XIV following the death of Pope Francis.

Tinubu is a Yoruba Muslim married to a Christian and an assistant pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG.

However, Kaigama, while speaking at a function in Jalingo, Taraba State, said: “Four of us Catholic bishops were together with President Tinubu in Rome just last Sunday for the inauguration of the New Pope.

“And for me that was very significant gesture from a president that is a Muslim, a good sign on his part of concrete inter-religious dialogue.

“Inter-religious dialogue doesn’t have to be theoretical, it has to be concrete, the dialogue of life. As a Muslim he went to an overwhelmingly Christian event and he was well received by the Pope.”;;
