Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has held his first executive council meeting in the new government house in Awka.
The government house which was inaugurated two weeks ago by President Bola Tinubu, during a one-day working visit, has been severally described as a mini city, with about 37 different buildings within the expansive compound.
The meeting which was presided over by Governor Soludo marked the beginning of the phased relocation from the old government house.
Anambra has for 34 years since after its creation in 1991 been conducting its business in a makeshift government house in Awka, while the governor lives in a separate town, Amawbia in another makeshift governor’s Lodge.
A press release by the state Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor, announcing the meeting quoted Soludo as praying that decisions by government in the new government house would bear fruit
Mefor said: “The 8th ANSEC Meeting of 2025, took place on May 19, 2025, at the new Anambra State Government House Mini City, marking the first-ever meeting held at the permanent location.
“This historic milestone breaks the 34-year jinx of lacking a permanent Government House.
“During the meeting, the Council relived the successful presidential visit, commending Ndi Anambra for their warm hospitality, which left a lasting impression on the President and his entourage.
“The Council prayed that decisions made at the new ANSEC chambers would promote welfare, unity, security, and prosperity for Ndi Anambra, Nigerians, and humanity.”;;
