Published on May 07, 2025 at 09:11 PM

Sunshine Stars head coach Akinfolarin Bobola maintains that his side still have a fighting chance of avoiding relegation, despite suffering a narrow defeat in Ibadan.

Ikouwem Utim’s solitary goal handed Shooting Stars a 1–0 victory at the Lekan Salami Stadium on Wednesday, leaving Sunshine Stars in a precarious position.

Speaking after the match, Akinfolarin expressed determination to keep battling until the end of the campaign.

“The league is a marathon with the two matches left in the season,”; Akinfolarin stated.

“Niger Tornadoes played at home and they draw—anything can happen. We will face it till the end.”;

Sunshine Stars currently sit 19th on the Nigeria Premier Football League table with 41 points.

Their remaining fixtures are against Enyimba and Niger Tornadoes, which will prove crucial in their fight for survival.
