NPFL: Fatigue almost cost Nasarawa United’s victory against Lobi Stars – Yusuf

Published on May 08, 2025 at 11:19 AM

Nasarawa United technical adviser, Salisu Yusuf, says that fatigue almost cost his team maximum points in the match against Lobi Stars.

The Solid Miners bounced back from a goal down to beat Lobi Stars 2-1 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu on Wednesday.

Shina Kumater and Anas Yusuf scored for Nasarawa United to cancel out Japhet Kundushima’s early strike for the hosts.

Yusuf admitted that the encounter was difficult for his players.

“It was a very difficult game, you know. My boys were a little bit down, especially within the first twenty minutes, and we got punished for that,”; Yusuf said after the game.

“The entire team members were fatigued and highly overburdened after traveling to Gombe, then to Benin City, and to Enugu.

“But during halftime, we told the players to rediscover themselves and find a way back, knowing the situation we found ourselves in, particularly at these dying moments of the league campaign.

“We told them to show the desire, hunger, and passion to change the rhythm of the game, and thank God we got two instant responses early after the break.”;
