Fenerbahce head coach, Jose Mourinho has cleared the air on holding talks to become the manager of the Portugal national team this summer.

Mourinho insisted to that he informed Fenerbahce about the development, adding that he didn’t accept the any offer or held talks because he is a loyal person.

The former Chelsea and Manchester United coach was linked with the Portugal national team job in the past.

Reports had emerged recently that the former AS Roma and Real Madrid gaffer could replace Roberto Martinez at the end of Portugal’s Nations League tournament.

However, the 62-year-old has now made a clearification regarding those reports at a press conference after his Fernabahce defeated Eyupspor 2-1 on Sunday.

“Yes, I can deny that I had any meeting with the Portuguese Football Federation. I’m a loyal person,”;; Mourinho said.

“The only time I had direct contact with a club, I informed Fenerbahce. It was not now, it was in January.

“I had a meeting with a club. I did not accept the offer.”;;
