EPL: Arsenal handed triple injury boost ahead of Newcastle clash

Published on May 14, 2025 at 02:33 PM

Arsenal ha received a triple injury boost ahead of their crucial Premier League fixture against Newcastle United this Sunday.

Mikel Arteta’s men need one more point to ensure qualification for next season’s Champions League, following a 2-2 draw at Liverpool last weekend.

The Gunners will be without Mikel Merino who picked up a red card at Anfield for two bookings.

Merino is set to serve a one-game suspension, making him unavailable for the visit of the Magpies.

But Declan Rice was spotted in training on Wednesday morning along with the rest of the squad. He missed the trip to Liverpool with a muscle injury.

Leandro Trossard, who was substituted in the game, was also part of the session.

Arsenal were also boosted by Kai Havertz’s return. The German has been out of action since January.

Havertz had scored 16 goals in all competitions when he tore his hamstring injury during a warm weather training session in Dubai.
