Corrie’s decision to snub Helen Flanagan’s cobbles comeback MUST be personal – these three pieces of evidence prove it

Published on May 01, 2025 at 04:00 PM

HELEN Flanagan is one of Coronation Street’s biggest names – but it seems soap bosses just don’t want her back.

And more fool them I’d say. The decision to not bring her back, this year more than ever, proves it must be personal.

Soap bosses are understood to have shunned Helen from returning

This week, The Sun revealed was spectacularly rebuffed.

An insider told us one of the show’s top producers insisted “her character wouldn’t currently feed into any plots that are playing out”;.

But whilst , there’s no fooling the public with such a silly excuse for not having her roam the Cobbles once more.

It doesn’t take a genius to work out that ‘s character Rosie is needed on the show now more than EVER with the Webster family currently centre stage with three of the soap’s biggest plots.

To me, it seems clear that the top brass at Corrie must have something against the 34-year-old to deny her the chance to return as Rosie when it is warranted the most.

Let’s look at example one.

Rosie’s dad, Kevin Webster, is with testicular cancer.

The shock health news has left the Webster family floored with many of Kevin’s family and friends rallying around him during his time in need.

But you might be wondering how did Rosie react to the news?

Well... she didn’t.

Stubborn Corrie bosses’‘ban’ on Helen means Rosie hasn’t been seen in Weatherfield to check in on her beloved dad.

In what world is her father’s cancer plot not something Rosie could “feed into?”;

Kevin is not the only one facing a difficult time – cue example two.

Debbie’s plot has been tipped as one of the show’s next long-running stories and is set to continue on into 2026.

Then finally example three – Debbie’s

You’re telling me soap execs are throwing away the chance to have Rosie rock up in a stunning wedding outfit as she plays the dopey bridesmaid that everyone loves to hate? Madness!

How bosses are arguing that there is no way for a Rosie return boggles the mind – not least for Helen who had hoped a comeback would be a done deal.

It just makes no sense.

One can only wonder if some of Helen’s antics away from the cobbles have played a role in show bosses snubbing her once again.

Earlier this year, she was hauled into and when her was clocked speeding twice in 16 days.

She was handed and fined £3,000 in total.

Helen was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £800 and prosecution costs totalling £110.

She’s also and was forced to flog her £1million home amid her with footballer .

The glam actress could add some much needed sex appeal to the programme

Elsewhere, Helen’s image is not quite as family-friendly as show execs probably hope for.

The glamour girl and posts countless lingerie and bikini pics to show off the results of her £5,000 boob job.

She has the typical feed of an influencer with countless sponsored posts – (a major no-go for Corrie stars) – for her underwear sets and raunchy outfits.

But equally, I’d argue this could also play into the show’s strengths, with it time for and boring bosses to spice up their soap.

With Charlotte Jordan leaving as Daisy Midgeley this week, the soap has lost its flagship sex symbol.

And the eye candy comes no greater than Helen!

She’s clearly not afraid to whip off her clothes (something bosses could take full advantage of for saucy scenes) and as a body positive advocate, her sex appeal is needed now more than ever.

In another welcome change among the show’s cast, Helen is the one pleading to make a return at a time when Coronation Street has faced a huge cast exodus, with a handful of stars quitting and more being axed amid seriously low morale behind-the-scenes.

At one point, when six exits were revealed in one week, it looked as though Corrie bosses would be left with no cast at all, so the fact they are turning down one of their most famous names begging to come back proves there is something amiss.

In March, Helen told The Sun on Sunday: “I’d absolutely love to go back to Coronation Street, I really, really would.

“I’d love to see Rosie Webster come back as a single mum, having just left her partner.

“She’d dump her two kids with Sally and I think she would be an iconic barmaid at Rovers Return.”;

I feel for Helen. She’s a hard-working single mum of three who has spent her entire life in the spotlight as a result of the show.

Having first joined Corrie in 2000 and devoted her entire childhood and teenage years to the soap, it’s outrageous of the show’s producers to seemingly slap her with a ‘ban’ after all this time.

She even went back to the show for two years in 2017, at the height of her career and popularity, despite being a new mum and eventually expecting a child again during her stint.

And let’s not forget, Helen is still a very decent actress.

She excels at the ditzy Rosie is loved for and is certainly the stronger of the two Webster sisters at the side of her co-star who plays Sophie.

Her comic timing is impeccable and whilst Rosie and Helen’s personalities often blur due to their similarities, that proves no one else could play the role as excellently as Helen.

It’s a kick in the teeth and a slap in the face that bosses don’t want anything to do with her after all she’s given to the soap.

If I was her, I’d be damn right furious.

If I were a Corrie boss, I’d really be re-thinking this stupid ‘ban’ and sign her up before she gets an even better offer.
