Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has emphasised the strength of his partnership with his deputy, Yakubu Garba, saying, “We are a team, and they can’t break us.”;

This statement comes on the heels of rumours recently circulating in the state, alleging that the deputy governor is planning to resign his position over a misunderstanding.

The governor’s affirmation came shortly after the Workers’ Day celebration in Minna, the state capital.

He described their relationship as one of collaborative leadership, aimed at achieving shared goals.

He noted the importance of teamwork in driving progress, saying, “We are a team, and they can’t break us. Our focus is on the goal, and we will achieve it.”;

He further urged citizens of the state to continue supporting his administration, adding, ”; We are confident that a transformative future for Niger State is within reach.”;

Earlier, the governor reiterated his commitment to the welfare of workers in the state, to make life more comfortable for them.

While acknowledging the sacrifices of all categories of workers in the state, he thanked them for their perseverance and faith in his administration.

The state council chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Idris Abdulkareem Lafene, who spoke through the Trade Union Congress, TUC, state chairman, Ibrahim Gana, described workers as the backbone of any society.

He commended the governor for the strides made in workers’ welfare, such as the implementation of the N80,000 Niger State minimum wage, payment of wage awards to state and local government workers, resumption of gratuity payments, distribution of food palliatives, and the settlement of the 2019 annual leave grant for state workers.
