CORONATION Street actor Daniel Brocklebank has broken his silence on leaving the ITV soap after 11 years.
The Sun would be written out of the show as Billy Mayhew as part of a hard-hitting storyline.
Actor Daniel has now confirmed his exit from the programme with the star telling The Sun: “I have been working on Corrie for a quarter of my life.
“I have adored every minute I have been in that building and have never not looked forward to going into work.
“I love everyone who works on this show and whilst I am sad to be going, I am equally excited to see what thefutureholds.”;;
He further went on to share a snap of his cast card to Instagram alongside the heartbreaking caption: “Bye bye Billy.”;;
bosses opted to write vicar Billy out of the show amid an ongoing cast exodus at the soap.
However, bosses are planning to give him a big send-off with a major issue-based storyline planned for his exit.
Corrie producer Kate Brooks said: “Billy will be involved in a major storyline over the coming months, which will see him tested in ways he never imagined, as friendships and his faith are pushed to the limit.
“We’re incredibly sad to bid farewell to Dan, who has been fantastic in some of Corrie’s biggest storylines over the past few years, most notably Paul’s MND.
“An actor of immeasurable talent and skill, and an absolute treasure behind the scenes – he will be missed by all of us on the cobbles.”;;
Since news of his exit broke, blasted the programme for making a “huge mistake”;; by ‘axing’ Daniel as he clarified it was not his partner’s choice to walk away from Weatherfield.
Posting onto his 20,000 followers he said: “Nothing to say.
“Not his decision. Huge mistake. I can’t even believe we are having this conversation.
“No words can express how heartbroken I am for him. He will be magnificent.”;;
Daniel’s on-screen appearances became clouded by his erratic and often bizarre social media posts about various different .
He became well-known for being vocal and opinionated online and often shared baseless claims about a slew of different topics.
Fans became concerned at his posts in recent times railing at the “mainstream media”;; and suggesting thefor unexplained reasons.
His verified X – formerly known as– account has now disappeared following the news of his soap departure.
