Abia: CP warns police officers against unlawful detention, human rights abuse

The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isa, has cautioned officers against engaging in human rights abuses, including detaining people unlawfully.

The CP issued the warning during a strategic conference with Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, HODs and Tactical Team Commanders in Umuahia.

He emphasized the importance of enhanced visibility policing, charging the officers to ensure that police presence is felt in the state.

Isa further directed the DPOs to strengthen collaboration with school authorities within theirs areas, in order to identify and address peculiar security challenges.

The CP further charged the officers to maintain professionalism, and adhere only to lawful detention even as he warned them against delving into civil matters as no form of misconduct would be tolerated.

The conference featured an educative seminar on mental health awareness and effective stress management, which was led by the O/C of Medical, ACP Emelike Chinenye.
