A DIY plumber shared on TikTok an ingenious hack that takes just seconds and requires only a hammer.

In the video, he demonstrates unscrewing the top of the radiator valve, ensuring that the removed piece is intact.

He then highlights a tiny pin at the top of the valve beneath, which he identifies as the issue.

Using a hammer, he gently taps the pin until it pops up.

The pin should be able to move freely up and down, and the plumber recommends spraying it with WD40 to keep it adequately lubricated.

After completing the task, he screws the top of the valve back into place.

“Simple fix!” he concluded.

“Is your radiator stone cold?” the DIY plumber, who also shares his tips on Facebook and YouTube , captioned the TikTok video.

“This tiny component gets stuck frequently, and it’s the simplest fix that often goes unchecked.

“Try this before you spend any money!”

The comments section quickly filled with gratitude from viewers who appreciated the hack.

Many admitted they had tried it and successfully got their broken radiators working in seconds.

“Thank you! Two radiators are now functioning that hadn’t worked since we moved in!” one user wrote.

“Thanks! I just fixed my radiator using your trick!” another commented with joy.

“The hallway radiator hadn’t worked for a year and a half.”

“This is incredible!” a third user expressed.

5 Money-Saving Tips for Autumn/Winter

1. Draught-proof Your Home

It takes time and money to heat your home, so it's essential to do everything possible to retain warmth. Close your doors and windows, and seal any gaps with a draught excluder.

2. Lower Your Thermostat

According to Energy UK, turning down your thermostat by just one degree Celsius can reduce your heating bill by up to 10%, saving you around £85 per year. Additionally, if you don’t have a thermostat, installing one could save you up to £70 annually!

3. Rearrange Furniture

Avoid placing large furniture, like sofas, in front of radiators.
