Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has inaugurated the 2026 Emblem Appeal Week with a contribution of N30 million on behalf of the state government, along with a personal donation of N5 million to the state branch of the Nigeria Legion.
The Governor praised the sacrifices made by fallen heroes during local, regional, and international missions aimed at fostering peace, security, and freedom.
“This day also serves as a reminder of the significant contributions made by our brave Nigerian soldiers in combating security challenges, including the Boko Haram insurgency, banditry, cattle rustling, kidnapping, and other forms of criminality afflicting our nation.

“It is with deep sorrow that we acknowledge the loss of many of our soldiers during these noble duties, with several others left permanently injured in their defense of the sovereignty, peace, and unity of our beloved nation. They made the ultimate sacrifice so that our country and humanity can enjoy peace, security, and freedom.
“The courageous Nigerian soldiers have brought great pride to Nigeria on the global stage, particularly within organizations such as the United Nations, ECOWAS, and other regional and international bodies,” Buni stated.
The Governor urged individuals, groups, and corporate organizations to contribute generously to support the families of our fallen heroes.
