A GERMAN drug dealer was permitted to remain in Britain due to his inadequate proficiency in German, which prevents his deportation.
Saleh Hussein Hamid, 25, narrowly avoided deportation by claiming he would encounter “very significant obstacles” to reintegration, despite being a citizen.
The dealer, who took orders via his phone similar to a food delivery service, was sentenced to 33 months in prison in September 2022.
He was caught in a sting operation where he unknowingly delivered heroin and crack cocaine to an undercover officer.
This resulted in his conviction on eight counts of drug distribution.
The authorities classified Hamid as a foreign criminal and indicated he would be deported upon his release from prison.
However, his lawyers appealed under human rights legislation, arguing that Hamid had arrived in Britain as a child and lacked proficiency in German.
They also asserted that he would be targeted by far-right groups in Germany, as the country is less accepting of his faith.
A judge's decision allowing Hamid to stay has now been overturned, and a new ruling will be issued next year.
Earlier this year, a Polish drug dealer, who arrived in Britain at the age of four, also avoided deportation by claiming he could not speak any Polish.
He was apprehended with crack and heroin and was found in possession of a “Rambo-style” machete.
German drug dealer Saleh Hussein Hamid was allowed to remain in Britain due to his insufficient command of the German language, which prevents his deportation.
