The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Saturday monitored the ongoing area council elections in the capital city.
As part of the monitoring exercise, Wike visited the polling unit at Karu Chief’s Palace, where he interfaced with adhoc staff members of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on ground.
The Minister asked about the turnout of voters in the ongoing voting exercise.
Addressing INEC officials, Wike said: “But voters are turning up very well and there is no violence.”
In another polling unit, Wike asked the INEC adhoc staff: “How is the turnout? And when will votes start counting?”
Responding, the official said it’s quite low because just 10 percent of voters turned out.
“Very low sir, we have just 10 percent of electorates that came out to vote.”
On the counting of votes, he said: “It will start by 2.30pm”
