In a statement issued on Sunday, said: “I just wanted to share a quick message to say we hugely appreciate all the messages, it means a lot to us as a family.
“What happened came as a real shock, but Dad is doing okay given the circumstances and we’re taking it one step at a time.
“For now, we’re focused on him and keeping things steady around him.
“We’d really value a bit of privacy as we navigate it, and what lies ahead, but thank you again for the support as it means so much to dad and the rest of the family.”
Declan’s statement comes 24 hours after GB News announced that Eamonn had suffered a stroke and was recovering in hospital.
The statement read: “ was taken ill last week and it was later confirmed he had suffered a stroke. He is currently responding well to treatment.
“Eamonn has asked for privacy as he focuses on getting better.
“His colleagues and everyone at GB News wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to welcoming him back when he is ready to return.”
Eamonn had been due to return to GB News Breakfast on Monday, to front the programme he co-hosts from Monday to Wednesday with Ellie Costello.
Alex Armstrong will step in to present in his absence this week.
The former star fell ill on Tuesday and has been on a ward since then.
It comes just days after Eamonn opened up about his “horrendous” health battle.
Dad-of-four Eamonn’s woes started in 2021, after he suffered three slipped discs and a dislocated pelvis.
He began using a wheelchair the following year after undergoing surgery, and he is now supported by carers everyday.
Speaking about his issues last month, he said: “Well obviously I’ve been better.
“I’ve got this back and paralysis problem which has been with me now for three years.
“It’s terrible to come to terms with.
“The thing is, nobody seems to know what the problem is so I just stick with it and hopefully they’ll find a cure one day.”
Eamonn split up with ex-wife , 66, in 2024 and began dating marriage counsellor Katie soon after.
A stroke occurs when blood stops flowing to part of the brain, according to NHS guidance.
Possible symptoms include face weakness, where one side of the face might droop, arm weakness and speech problems.
Urgent medical intervention is needed if a stroke is suspected.
