Defence Spikers and VIP Crowned Champions as National Volleyball League Wraps Up in Abia

The Defence Spikers Volleyball Club of Abuja has claimed victory in the Division One National Volleyball League, with Ajase Ipo Volleyball Club from Kwara securing second place and Lifecamp Volleyball Club taking third.

In the Women's Division One, VIP Volleyball Club of Abuja triumphed, finishing ahead of the Federal Fire Service of Abuja and Excelsior Volleyball Club of Abia State, who placed second and third, respectively.

In the National Division Two for men, Light Volleyball Club of Abuja emerged as the champions, surpassing Bayelsa Volleyball Club and Rhino Volleyball Club from Plateau State.

The National Division One and Two Volleyball League featured 34 teams from 20 states, including the host state of Abia, as well as Bauchi, Sokoto, Bayelsa, Kwara, Katsina, and the Federal Capital Territory, among others.

During the closing ceremony, Abia State Governor Alex Otti announced that his administration sponsored the Volleyball League to identify new talent for Abia and Nigeria, and to engage Nigerian youth positively to steer them away from deviant behaviors.

Governor Otti, represented by his Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Nwaobilor Ananaba, stated that the substantial investment made by his administration in sports facilities had earned Abia the opportunity to host sports federations in Nigeria and Africa.

In his address, George Obioma, the Director of Sports for Abia State, encouraged the winners to leverage their victories to become superstars, expressing gratitude to Governor Alex Otti and the Commissioner for ensuring the smooth conclusion of the National Division One and Two Volleyball League.

The President of the Nigerian Volleyball Federation, Musa Nimrod, who was represented by his Vice President, Adamu Tanimu, praised the high standard of organization displayed throughout the League.
