The Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the South-East zone, Rev. Augustine Ehiemere, has responded to the recent defection of Abia South Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Ehiemere, speaking to DAILY POST via phone on Wednesday, expressed confidence that his party would continue to strengthen its position in Abia State and throughout the South-East, despite Abaribe's departure.
The APGA National Vice Chairman criticized politicians who switch parties after utilizing those platforms to achieve their political goals.
“In my view, APGA is a disciplined party, and we are not shaken by these habitual party hoppers. APGA stands as a guardian of democratic principles. The party will resonate loudly and clearly in Abia and the South-East,” Rev. Ehiemere stated.
He pointed out that many politicians who leave the parties that supported their political careers do so without making significant contributions to the development of those parties.
Ehiemere urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to implement strict policies to prevent the misuse of party defections by Nigerian politicians.
Attempts to reach Uchenna Awom, the media aide to Senator Abaribe, on Wednesday evening through calls and messages went unanswered.
