Debunk bad press against our state – Gov Alia to Benue journalists

Benue State Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has said his administration will partner Journalists to tour some projects of the government aimed at improving the livelihoods of the people and achieving economic prosperity for the state.

Governor Alia stated this at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Makurdi during a visit by the Conference of Benue Journalists, CBJ.

He said the tour would equip journalists who are Benue indigenes practising outside the state with requisite knowledge of the projects in the state and activities of the state government.

Governor Alia appreciated the various roles of the group, adding that the CBJ made modest contributions towards the actualization of a better Benue that works not only for the people of the state but for the overall development of the country.

He charged them to remain good ambassadors of the state and also use their good offices to counter fake news and propaganda from the media aimed at sabotaging the government’s efforts.

He called on members of the state executive council to take advantage of the presence of the group to project the activities of their various ministries.

Also speaking, the Benue State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Matthew Aboh said Gov Alia is not relenting on his promise to take the state to higher heights

The President of CBJ, Dr. Emmanuel Anule commended Governor Hyacinth Alia for all that he has done for the state and encouraged him to do more.

He appealed to the Governor to sustain his prompt and timely payment of salaries to Benue civil servants and also intensify efforts in addressing security challenges in the state.

Members of CBJ were taken around to some projects within the Makurdi metropolis by the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Matthew Aboh and his counterpart in the Ministry of Works and Housing, Hon.Isaac Tiza Imojime.
