CHRIS FROOME has dropped the biggest hint yet he has retired from cycling.

The four-time winner, 40, was after a horror training accident – and has not raced since.

His injuries included a , which was later repaired in surgery, and a collapsed lung.

He has not made any statement confirming his retirement, though his contract with his Israel-Premier Tech team ended last year.

However, the Kenya-born British rider has landed a new job that very strongly suggests he’s leaving professional behind him.

Froome – who won seven Grand Tours before a – has joined coaching platform Vekta as Chief Innovation Officer, and will lead the ‘athlete advisory board’.

It’s described as a ‘hands-on’ role, focusing on evolving the new platform and transforming it for users.

Froome said in a press release: “Athletes generate huge amounts of data, but without context it can quickly lose meaning.

“My focus with Vekta is on making sure performance insights are grounded in reality — how decisions feel day to day, how fatigue accumulates, and how athletes actually adapt over seasons, not just sessions.”

He added: “I’ve spent my career inside some of the most advanced performance environments in sport, and I’ve seen both the strengths and limitations of existing tools.

“What drew me to Vekta is the team’s ambition to build something that genuinely reflects how athletes train, race, and adapt over time.”

Vekta CEO described Froome’s appointment as a ‘defining moment’ for the company.

Froome’s future as a cyclist still isn’t entirely clear, having teased at the end of last year that “people will know soon enough” where his head is at.

He told CyclingNews in December: “I’ve got a pretty good idea, but I’m not quite ready to announce it yet.”
