BBC Radio star Eddie Nestor has revealed he has cancer and would be taking a break from presenting to focus on his health.

The comedian and radio presenter announced his on Instagram saying “this wasn’t a post I ever imagined writing.”

Eddie updated fans with a statement over four slides and said he’d spent in hospital.

“You may have noticed I’ve been quieter than usual,” he began.

“I’ve been diagnosed with cancer. The good news is that, thank to an incredible medical team, I’ve now had my first chemotherapy treatment.”

Eddie continued by saying he and his family were “hopeful” and “looking upward and forward.”

While he did not disclose what kind of cancer he had, Eddie said he would post less on social media so he could concentrate on “getting stronger.”

Eddie asked his fans to continue to support his wife Lisa Nestor who is a fitness instructor and told them “don’t feel sorry for me.”

“I’d rather have your prayers, your love and your encouragement and the occasional laugh,” he wrote adding, “that’s the fuel I need.”

Thealso issued a statement saying they would miss Eddie while he undergoes treatment.

“Our friend and colleague Eddie Nestor has announced that he will be away from Radio London for a period of time while he receives treatment for cancer,” wrote BBC London on its official social media.

“Everyone at BBC London sends Eddie and his family our love and support.”

Eddie is known as a comedian and actor with roles on Casualty and Death in Paradise.

He has been presenting the Drive Time show BBC Radio London since 2020.

Eddie received a MBE in 2017 and was voted Speech Broadcaster of the Year at the Sony Radio Academy Awards in 2007.
