But, warm days and humid nights are the perfect conditions for to emerge and wreak havoc on your and plants.

Carol Ibbertson took to social media to share the simple solution that keeps slugs away from gobbling your plants.

She shared her tip to the group, Gardening on a budget official, which boasts over 450,000 members.

Sharing a picture of the buy and her well-kept plant, she said: “The never ending Hosta vs Slugs (Quest).

“Having tried all other options & suggestions and failed, this stuff is working for me.

“Strong garlic smell plus the oily content stops the blighters getting up my pots.

“Been spraying the plants & around pot edges every other day for a week or so.”;

Carol swore by the Frylight 1 Cal Garlic Oil Cooking Spray to keep her plants protected from the pests.

While most save the oil for the frying pan she said it helped keep slugs away and it cost just £1.74 from .

The strong scent of garlic repels slugs while the oily consistency makes it hard for them to climb up plants.

The post quickly went viral on the Facebook group and many thanked her for the tip and were eager to try it for themselves.

One person wrote: “That is a genius idea! I’m going to try it, I don’t suppose it would harm plants to spray it on the stems/leaves.”;
