Hon. Engr. Sagir Ibrahim Koki, the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources and Member representing the Kano Municipal Federal Constituency, has resigned from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
He attributed his resignation to ongoing leadership conflicts at the national level of the party.
In a resignation letter dated November 11, 2025, and addressed to the Chairperson of the Zaitawa Ward, Koki stated that the persistent internal strife within the party had hindered his ability to effectively represent his constituents.
“I have made this decision because the internal turmoil in the party leadership at the center has made it challenging, if not impossible, for me to fulfill my responsibilities and provide my constituents with the representation they deserve in the House of Representatives,” Koki wrote.
He expressed gratitude to the NNPP for giving him a platform to serve.
Koki described his experience as invaluable and mentioned that his resignation is in accordance with Section 40 of the 1999 Constitution as well as the party’s constitution.
His resignation occurs just two days after Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, who represents the Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, also left the NNPP to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
