The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna has officially inaugurated a transition committee as part of its efforts to strengthen its structure across all local government areas in the state.
The committee has been tasked with filling all vacant executive positions in the 23 Local Government Areas and the 255 wards throughout the state.
Additionally, the committee is expected to report its activities to the state Secretariat within 14 days and will be held accountable for its actions.
The committee members include Philimon Kure from ADC (Chairman) representing Zone 3, Muktar Isa Hazo from SDP (Member) representing Zone 1, Muhammed Dauda Haskiya from SDP (Member) also from Zone 1, Kabiru Ajuji from APC (Member) representing Zone 1, and Zulaihat Abdul Kareem from ADC (Deputy Chairman) representing Zone 1.
Other committee members are Ibrahim Adamu Sarki from PDP (Member) representing Zone 2, Nazifi Jibrin Muhammad from PDP (Member) representing Zone 2, Haruna Dogo Mabo from NNPP (Member) representing Zone 2, Isah Dan Maryam from PRP (Member) representing Zone 2, Isaac Auta Zankai from SDP (Member), Wilson Iliya Yange from PDP (Member), and Simon Na Allah from LP (Member).
Ibrahim Musa from ADC representing Zone 2 will serve as the Committee’s Secretary.
After the inauguration, the state Chairman of the party, Elder Patrick Ambut, addressed the committee members and urged them to be diligent, ensuring that justice and fairness are upheld throughout the process.
Ambut referenced Article 3.4 of the ADC Transitional Operation Guidelines, which empowers the committee to make the ADC accessible to all and foster a sense of belonging.
“The challenges are significant and demanding, requiring dedication, justice, and fairness,” emphasized the party chairman.
Among the committee's responsibilities is conducting a leadership audit in all 23 LGAs and wards, as well as aligning with the 2022 INEC-supervised Congress of the party.
The committee has also been charged with ensuring that appointments to vacant positions maintain a 40:60 ratio between the ADC and its coalition partners, pending the ratification of expelled members by the National Working Committee.
Further outlining the 'Terms of Reference', Ambut stressed that the principles of the ADC are non-negotiable, and all members must be duly registered with the ADC.
In his acceptance speech, the Chairman of the Committee, Philimon Kure, clarified that the mandates of the committee are clear, emphasizing that it is a collective responsibility of all stakeholders to build a stronger party that will represent the interests of everyone.
