5 good movies on Netflix to watch this weekend: May 15-16, 2021

The weekend is here, which means it’s time to catch up on the big releases on Netflix. Here are the five movies on Netflix worth checking out between May 15 and 16, 2021.

It’s time to play catch-up on all the great shows and movies on Netflix throughout the week. And there were some excellent releases. There is something for everyone when it comes to movies throughout the weekend, whether you want a thriller or an action movie.

Last weekend was probably spent binge-watching Jupiter’s Legacy season 1. However, there were some excellent movies from the week to check out, especially Monster. Now it’s time to focus on the new week.

Most of the movies on this list are already available to stream. There is one that isn’t available until Sunday, May 16.

5 must-watch movies on Netflix this weekend

The Woman in the Window

We start the weekend with the big thriller of the week. Amy Adams stars in The Woman in the Window, based on the novel of the same name by A.J. Finn. The rest of the cast is outstanding, and while that doesn’t always mean a good movie, it does mean a good chance of it. Audiences are more positive than critics.

Another thriller worth checking out from the movies on Netflix this week is Oxygen. Mélanie Laurent stars as a woman who wakes up in a cryogenic chamber with absolutely no idea how she got there. She’s also trapped inside with little oxygen left. She’ll need to remember how she got there if she wants to figure out how to escape.

Layer Cake

How about an oldie but a goodie? Layer Cake came out back in 2005, and it’s back on Netflix right now to check out. Watch Daniel Craig play a successful drug dealer who is forced to put his retirement plans on hold to rescue some trade magnate’s daughter. Oh, and there is a case of $2m worth of ecstasy pills that he needs to retrieve. Simple, right?

The Strange House/Das Schaurige Haus

Some of the best movies on Netflix are the foreign-language movies. The Strange House is the one to watch this weekend, and the best thing is that this is for the majority of the family. It follows Sabine and her two sons as they move to a small village in Austria. It’s their chance for a fresh start, but it’s soon clear there’s something going on in the house.

Finally, it’s the movie that doesn’t drop until Sunday, May 16. It’s worth the wait, though. Sleight tells the story of a young street magician who turns to drug dealing to help support his younger sister. When his supplier kidnaps his sister, he has to use his skills as a magician to get her free.
