A prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Segun Sowunmi, has stated that the party is on track to render itself unelectable in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Sowunmi made this assertion on Friday during an interview on ‘Sunrise Daily’, a program on Channels Television that was monitored by DAILY POST.

It’s important to note that the PDP has recently been engulfed in internal political disputes, resulting in the formation of two factions.

One faction, loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has Abdulrahman Mohammed as its chairman, while the other is led by Umar Damagum.

During the interview, Sowunmi remarked, “It remains a significant challenge to prepare us for a real chance of success in the next election.”

“We are often being overshadowed by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), even though we initially dismissed them. However, I cautioned that Atiku Abubakar poses a serious threat to the PDP. No matter how frustrated you may feel, underestimating him will come back to haunt you.”

“When you compare the ADC and the PDP, it becomes evident that the PDP is indeed working towards making itself unelectable.”
