Former South African goalkeeper, Motsoeneng Tshepo has told Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali he would remain jobless for a very long time if he is looking to become the goalkeeper at the big clubs in the Premier Soccer League, like Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, and Mamelodi Sundowns.

DAILY POST recalls that Nwabali recently ended his contract with Chippa United even though he still had six months remaining, which means he is now a free agent and can join a new team before the season finishes.

Speaking to KickOff, Motsoeneng said that Nwabali might have decided to leave Chippa because he was promised interest from other teams.

Motsoeneng said, “I think Nwabali decided to leave Chippa United, and there might have been an agent who told him there was interest from another club.”

He said that Chippa United’s owner, Chippa Mpengesi, is known for letting players who are not satisfied go to other teams.

He added, “I know Chippa Mpengesi well because I worked with him before, and he doesn’t block a player who isn’t happy at the club anymore.”

Even though there have been talks about a possible move to Europe, Motsoeneng thinks the Nigerian player has not shown that he is better than players playing in the Premier Soccer League yet.

He said that Nwabali had to show clearly that he was one of the best goalkeepers in the top league in South Africa before trying to move to a bigger team.

“I don’t think Nwabali has moved beyond the PSL. Chippa is trying to avoid being relegated, and for Nwabali, he had to show at Chippa without any clear doubt that he had grown beyond the PSL.

“He first has to be a really great goalkeeper in the PSL to move past it,” he added.

He said that Nwabali’s performances so far in this campaign have not met expectations.

“Since the start of this season, Nwabali’s performance hasn’t been up to the standard it should be.

“After returning from the AFCON in Morocco, maybe he thought he would get a new opportunity from another team, but that didn’t happen,” he said.

Motsoeneng also asked where Nwabali would stand among the top three teams in the Premier Soccer League this season.

He said that Kaizer Chiefs have Brandon Petersen playing really well, Orlando Pirates depend on Sipho Chaine, who has won trophies, and Mamelodi Sundowns have Ronwen Williams, who is the main goalkeeper for Bafana Bafana.

“If he wants to move to one of the top three teams, where do you think he might go? Kaizer Chiefs have Brandon Petersen, and he is showing this season that he is the right person for the role.

“At Orlando Pirates, there’s Sipho Chaine, who is winning trophies and wants to be included in the Bafana Bafana World Cup team, but he’s behind Ricardo Goss.

“At Mamelodi Sundowns, they have the country’s top player, Ronwen Williams.

“Remember, you signed a foreign goalkeeper to be the number one, but now when you bring him to Sundowns, what happens to Ronwen? Where will he work alongside the top three? They have no space for Nwabali,” he added.

He added that all three clubs have the opportunity to send their first-choice goalkeepers to the World Cup.
