Chelsea legend Tony Cascarino has told Erling Haaland he will never go down in history as the greatest player of all time.
According to him, this is because Haaland will never win the World Cup with Norway.
Haaland and Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe have been touted to take over the ‘greatest of all time’ debate between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Mbappe has already won the trophy in his first tournament in 2018 and Haaland’s Norway are yet to qualify for the tournament since 1998.
And despite his devastating goal record, Cascarino believes club form can only account for so much.
“Erling Haaland is probably not going to win the World Cup with Norway. He’s not,” Cascarino told talkSPORT.
“Unless he gets 70 goals a season every season, even then I don’t know if he’ll be classed as the greatest player of all time
.“I just don’t see it without being a world champion.
“It’s impossible for me in my mind…”
