RIDGE HOLLAND has issued a passionate statement prior to his WWE release.
The 37-year-old, whose real name is Luke Menzies, was notified last month that his contract would not be renewed.
Ridge Holland initially signed with WWE in 2018
Holland is currently recovering from a broken foot injury.
This injury occurred while he was working on a TNA show in September, having been loaned to the smaller promotion by WWE.
While WWE is covering Holland’s medical expenses, his inability to work for at least the next six months has placed him in a challenging situation.
In a message shared on social media, he expressed: “I never imagined I wouldn’t be able to pay my mortgage.
“I feel like I’ve been abandoned after getting injured while working for another company on behalf of WWE.
“On top of that, my contract is not being renewed knowing that I wouldn’t be able to wrestle for 7 months. This is harsh.
“Yes, they are covering the surgery and physical therapy, but let’s be honest, that’s the bare minimum considering what we sacrifice for the company.
“Additionally, there’s the possibility of needing to have my neck fused too.
“This is truly frustrating.”
The Yorkshireman Holland was a professional rugby player from 2006 to 2015, playing for teams such as Hull Kingston Rovers and Salford Red Devils.
After transitioning to the local wrestling scene following his rugby league retirement, the former prop signed with WWE in 2018.
In 2021, he joined SmackDown, competing alongside his “idol” Sheamus in the ring.
