It was a spine-tingling moment that marked a terrific opening victory to the World Cup, with the likes of , and Kane all seen chanting along.

Record-scorer , whose double in Dallas took him to a whopping 81 strikes, said: “That was one of my favourite ever moments in an England shirt.

“Especially at a major tournament. I know it’s just the first game and we’re not getting carried away.

“It’s the emotional connection with the fans, we know how much it means to them. They see how much it means to us. We have that connection right now.

“That moment, singing Wonderwall in the stadium, everyone knew the words and that was a really special moment.”

The connection between Thomas Tuchel’s team and the inside the Dallas Stadium was there for all to see with the full-time sing-song.

Clips of the moment which instantly went viral showed just how much it seemed to mean to the likes of Kane and Bellingham, who also scored in the victory over the Balkans.

Goalkeeper added: “We buzz off it (the fans support). You see that at the end of the game. It gives us that added edge, that added atmosphere.

“We all thrive off it. When they’re coming out in force like they are, I think it’s only going to get better over the next two games. I think we’ll see a lot more numbers coming over.

“We all love it. We’re all passionate people and we know the England fans are passionate as well. It drives us. It doesn’t go unnoticed.”

Speaking on the FA’s Lions’ Den programme, Kane seemed genuine in how much the full-time scenes touched him emotionally.

He said it reminded him of when he himself was simply a fan, rather than the team’s superstar striker, growing up.

The centre-forward said: “We love that kind of stuff. Me and Picks and all the squad are fans.

“We’ve grown up watching England, we’ve grown up in those environments and to be on the other side now doesn’t mean that we’re disconnected.

“It just means that we’re trying to give the fans those special moments like (against Croatia). Hopefully we can have a few more.”

Kane idolised when he was a kid, having being born in the same hospital and gone to the same school as the former and midfielder.

The current skipper went level with Beckham’s haul of 115 caps with his appearance on Wednesday and revealed the owner got in touch to congratulate him.

Kane said: “David sent me a nice voice note yesterday before the game and after the game. He just congratulated me on getting to 115. He said he knows how hard it is to be that consistent and to reach that many caps.

“It was great for him to send me that message. He was wishing the boys all the best as well.

“To have the same amount of caps as him is pretty mindblowing, to be honest.

“He wants us to do really well. Every interaction I’ve had with him has been amazing.

“It is a bit of a full-circle moment. Now he’s watching us as a fan. I’m sure we’ll be the same in 20 years or so.”

Tuchel has been attempting to instil a “brotherhood” in his England squad which he hopes provides the solid base to take them all the way this summer in North America.

He follows up on the work predecessor Sir did to create more squad harmony, which Kane remembers first being effective at the Russia World Cup eight years ago.

But the Bayern megastar reckons there is a “freshness” to Tuchel’s current crop thanks to some fresh blood adding extra impetus.

Speaking of the England’s squad unity, Kane explained: “It probably dates back to 2018.

“I think that was the first time we really started to get the togetherness as we wanted it.

“It’s been something we’ve been really big on in the past with Gareth and the squads that we wanted.

“But this one feels a little bit different. I think our role has changed a little bit.

“Being the more experienced guys, the older guys, there’s not many players from those early tournaments in this squad.

“So there’s a freshness about it where you can really see a hunger, a desire, an excitement from the players in the team just to be part of what could be a special summer.”

Kane and Co will hope to keep the good times rolling with victory against on Tuesday, as they plot a long-awaited major tournament triumph half the world away.
