OVER a dozen “dismembered” cats have been found floating in a pond of an abandoned house sparking fears they could be the victim of a serial killer.
Paula Singleton discovered the 16 dead cats while searching for her own missing moggies in the garden of a home up for sale in Canley, , last Sunday.

Speaking to The Sun, Paula said: “It was absolutely horrific. There’s just no other word for it.
“As I started to retrieve the intact cats, the heads and decomposed skulls of other cats started to appear, so I realised it was quite a serious situation.”
She found the kitties after some local children who had been playing hide and seek stumbled across the dreadful scene and told Paula.
Two of Paula’s own cats were missing – a black and white cat, and a ginger cat called Ginger Nut – and she went to the home to investigate.

Paula, known locally as the “cat lady” as she’s taken in stray cats before, was left “devastated” by what she found.
Her own two cats were tragically among the dead.
Paula contacted the RSPCA, but she claims the told her that there was nothing they could do as the cats were already dead.
Instead, she went to Coventry City Council with the local authority directing her back to the RSPCA.
When Paula and her friend spent the “entire day” retrieving the dead animals – and were left further horrified to find more of the dead creatures.
She believes over a dozen cats were dumped in the pond, including 11 heads, three whole cats, and cat body parts.
Paula said: “I just went into shock, to be honest. I don’t think the severity of it hit me straight away.”
The RSPCA eventually sent an officer to attend the property, and Paula said they agreed that the injuries and the number of animals suggested “foul play”.
Paula says that her own cats had pieces of their bodies missing and were bloodied with their claws broken.
“One of them – my ginger one – had the fleshy part of his bottom jaw off, but it wasn’t in a state of decomposition where that would have happened naturally.”
The gruesome discovery was made worse when Paula found dismembered pieces of the animals in the garden.
She said: “We also found a torso on the grass, though it was decomposed and had no limbs, so that was a bit odd.
“The smell was horrendous in that garden when I went in.
“You couldn’t breathe. It wasn’t just a bad smell – it was breathtaking. It made you feel physically sick.
Paula believes a person may have been responsible for the death of the cats and went on to say that the council eventually opened a case involving , the homeowner and the RSPCA.
The house is understood to have been on the market for several months.
She claimed that she was later quoted £300 per cat for autopsies by the RSPCA, leaving little hope of her discovering the cause of death.
The horrified woman is hoping to link the dead cats to their owners and make the pond safe to prevent any future deaths.
A West Midlands spokesperson said: “We were called to a vacant property in Howcotte Green, Coventry earlier this week after the remains of a number of cats were found.
“We are working with partners including Coventry City Council and the RSPCA, who are leading the .”
