Senator Adams Oshiomhole, who represents Edo North, has disclosed that he stopped wearing khaki to the Senate due to the chamber’s dress code.
During an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Friday, the former president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) mentioned that he had received multiple warnings about wearing his signature khaki outfit to plenary sessions.
Oshiomhole stated: “I need to clarify the ‘senator’ attire. I saw an analysis that suggested ‘even Oshiomhole, power changes people. He no longer wears khaki.’
“You see, I am not permitted, despite my human rights. I am not allowed to wear khaki to the Senate because of the dress code.
“I have been warned several times, ‘please, this is not a labour office.’”
Oshiomhole pointed out that some commentators have implied that his change in attire was a result of the influence of political office, but he clarified that it is simply a matter of adhering to Senate regulations.
