KONSTANTINOS MAVROPANOS and Taty Castellanos scored two goals apiece to lift West Ham out of the relegation zone for the first time since September.

And in doing so they sent Tottenham crashing into the bottom three for at least until tomorrow afternoon.

Spurs have to win at Sunderland to get out of it this weekend.

And the North Londoners, if they have not already, will now really start worrying about the prospect of being relegated for the first time since 1977.

West Ham looked dead and buried after slipping seven points adrift of safety following back-to-back defeats to Wolves and Nottingham Forest in January.

But slowly but surely Nuno Espirito Santo has been getting a tune out of the Hammers and now they are two points above the drop zone.

Wolves were the better side for much of the opening half but it was West Ham who went into the break in front when Mavropanos headed home.

Then, January signing Taty clinically punished Wolves twice, slotting home in the 66th and 68th minutes to secure the points.

Then former Arsenal defender Mavropanos volleyed home with seven minutes left.

Wolves went into the game having not played for an incredible TWENTY-FIVE days due to the international break and Arsenal reaching the Carabao Cup final.

It was such a ridiculous amount of time without playing that Rob Edwards arranged a behind-closed-doors friendly

The Hammers, however, played against Leeds on Easter Sunday in the FA Cup — and although they went out on penalties most of their squad got vital minutes into the legs.

Crysencio Summerville — who has been out since aggravating a calf injury against Brentford — gave West Ham a huge boost by starting.

But it was the visitors who should have gone in front.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde muscled throughbefore playing a lovely pass across the six yard box for Hugo Bueno. But Kyle Walker-Peters, surprisingly starting ahead of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, managed to just get in front to intercept.

West Ham had a great chance to open the scoring when Mateus Fernandes threaded a lovely pass for Summerville — but from an angle and keeper Jose Sa to beat blazed over.

Wolves went mighty close down the other end when Yerson Mosquera headed inches wide.

Taty steered a shot over after getting on the end of El Hadji Malick Diouf’s looping ball to the back post.

Diouf carelessly gave the ball away on the edge of his box but Adam Armstrong shot over.

Then Armstrong elected to head rather than volley when unmarked and Mads Hermansen was able to gather.

But West Ham were in front three minutes before the break.

After a West Ham free-kick was cleared, the ball came out to Bowen on the right and his cross was perfect for Mavropanos to head home.

It was the first real piece of quality from the hosts — and the seventh assist from Bowen.

Only Bruno Fernandes and Rayan Cherki have provided more this season.

Wolves were denied from levelling after the break by the woodwork.

Angel Gomes, with a free-kick 25-yards out after Taty gave away a foul, cracked the right post.

And the Hammers swept down the other end with Summerville and, seeing Sa off his line, attempted an 30-yard lob but it lacked power and the keeper palmed it wide.

However, Bowen was also denied when he cut in on the right flank before cracking a thunderous shot against the left post.

Tomas Soucek gave away a careless free-kick on the edge of the box after hacking down Bellegarde — and Gomez fired the set-piece inches over.

With 25 minutes left West Ham grabbed their second.

Summerville won possession in the centre of the park before setting Taty away. He played a quick one-two with Pablo before shooting into the bottom left corner.

And the Hammers were home and hosed immediately after the restart.

Gomes lost the ball and Bowen was on to it in a flash and he laid the ball on for Taty to run through and net his second.

West Ham were now in party mode and from a Bowen corner Mavropanos got ahead of Ladislav Krejci to volley past Sa.
