WAFCON: Oshoala speaks on retirement from Super Falcons after winning 10th title

Published on July 27, 2025 at 06:49 PM

Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala has dismissed speculations claiming she is set to retire from international football.

Oshoala addressed the rumours while speaking to journalists after Nigeria’s 3-2 victory over Morocco in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations final.

“I don’t know where that came from but agenda must agend. I get it, but I’m not bothered. I’m still here. I’m still playing. I’m still doing my job. That’s what I’m focused on,” Oshoala said.

The 30-year-old made Nigeria’s final 23-player squad for the tournament but played a supporting role throughout.

Oshoala’s international career began in 2013, and she has scored in three consecutive FIFA Women’s World Cups - becoming the first African player to achieve the feat.

The six-time African Footballer of the Year has now won four Women’s Africa Cup of Nations titles: 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2024.
