Current affairs analyst and Professor of Communications at Baze University, Abuja, Abiodun Adeniyi, asserts that corruption and ineffective governance remain Nigeria’s significant challenges, obstructing the nation's progress even after 65 years of independence.
Adeniyi remarked that Nigeria's 65 years of independence signify a slow yet incomplete journey towards nation building.
He expressed these views on Friday during his appearance as a guest on Arise Television’s interview program.
Prof. Adeniyi dismissed the idea that the nation's development has become more challenging, emphasizing that nation building is a gradual and ongoing endeavor.
“Nation building is a work in progress. We have observed countries around the world steadily advance, moving from humble beginnings to significant achievements.
“In our case, I would argue that we are merely in the midst of this journey. We still have a considerable distance to cover. We recognize that there are nations that were once on par with us in 1960 that have progressed significantly.
“This does not imply regression, but rather a slower trajectory. We must accelerate our efforts to fulfill the aspirations and dreams of our people and the visions of our forebears,” he stated.
