The President General of Urhobo Youths Worldwide and State Patron, Anti-Cult, Comrade Efemena Umukoro Akima, on Wednesday held a peace talk with the leaders and members of Eiye and Barger Confraternities.
He also settled the rivalry between the cult groups in Abraka Community, Ethiope-East Local Government Area of Delta State.
This was contained in a statement tagged, “Peaceful Resolution,” and sent to our Correspondent in Warri.
In the statement, the Special Anti-Cult Unit (SACU) Asaba, Abraka Division NPF, State Government Security Initiative, Delta Sweep, 181 Amphibious Battalion Nigerian Army, and the Chairman, Ethiope East Local Government Council, were copied.
Comrade Efemena, who is also a Security Consultant, said, “In cultism or crime, there is absolutely no gain in it. Only pain, loss, and regret.”
He urged the leaders and members of the cult groups to channel their energies into peace, unity, and development.
“Indeed, we can become champions when we discourage crime in our society.”
Comrade Efemena commended the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori-led Delta State Government for its efforts in making the security of lives and property a high priority in Abraka Community.
He also commended the leadership of government security organisations within the jurisdiction of Abraka Community.
According to him, “I want to sincerely appreciate the efforts of the Anti-Cult Sapele Zonal Commander, Abraka Commander, and the entire Anti-Cult group in Abraka, Nigerian Forest Security Service, the Nigeria Police Force in Abraka, the members of the 181 Amphibious Battalion of the Nigerian Army, and the State Security Initiative Delta Sweep for their tireless commitment to safeguarding our community during this period of unrest. It is through their vigilance and sacrifices that we did not record any loss of lives despite the rivalry.
“As stakeholders in our community, we must continue to discourage our youths from engaging in cultism.”
Efemena opined that, “Though we can’t completely erase cultism or crime in our society, we can reduce it to the barest minimum.
“Together, we can build a safer and stronger Abraka Community.”
At the end of the peace talk process, a communiqué was reached by all members in attendance.
